Implementation plan heat Northwest
In the Netherlands, we are moving away from natural gas. The goal, as stated in the Climate Agreement, is to stop using natural gas by 2050 at the latest. In Wageningen, we will also no longer use natural gas to heat homes and buildings in the future. We will rely solely on sustainable energy. This means sustainable energy for heating buildings, water from the tap, and cooking. Wageningen will not transition from natural gas to sustainable energy all at once. It will happen step by step, neighborhood by neighborhood. We will go through these steps together and ensure that everyone can participate. The transition to sustainable energy must be feasible and affordable for everyone.
Wageningen aims to be natural gas-free by 2040. In the Northwest, the western part is already connected to a district heating network. The eastern part still lacks an alternative. Together with you, as a resident, we want to work on an implementation plan for heating for a sustainable future.
