In this questionnaire, we briefly explain our plans for the city center. You can share your thoughts and feedback on these plans.

What is it about?

Wageningen is a city in motion. In the coming years, we are working towards a city center that is more attractive and greener for both residents and visitors. There will be more space for greenery and enjoyable activities, and less congestion caused by cars. By placing parking areas smartly on the outskirts of the city center, we can reduce traffic searching for parking spaces. This also creates more room for greenery, water, walking and cycling routes, and places where residents and visitors can meet.

What do we want to do?

To make this possible, we plan to relocate parking spaces in the city center — such as those at Junushoff, Beuningplein, the Gedempte Gracht, and the Irene Brigadeplein — to the Gevangentoren area. These central locations can then be redesigned and given a new purpose. A central parking area at the Gevangentoren, located on the edge of the city, is an intermediate step that allows us to start improving the city center now.

Parking facilities on the edge of the city

At present, there is no available location for a parking facility outside the Stadsgracht. Therefore, we are investigating the feasibility of a parking garage with a secure bicycle parking area at the Gevangentoren. This will create space to redevelop the mentioned parking areas.
